NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Germany's Andrea Petkovic successfully reached her third Grand Slam quarterfinal of the season at the US Open after she easily knocked out unseeded Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1, 6-4 on Monday.

Petkovic has been to the quarterfinals at both the Australian and French Opens, while also recording wins over Wozniacki, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova and Jelena Jankovic.

The 10th-seeded German converted four of 10 break points before she wrapped up the match in one hour and 24 minutes. Navarro broke her opponent just once.

Petkovic played more aggressively to force 28 errors upon the Spaniard, 15 more than that from Navarro.

Petkovic lost the only encounter between them prior to the fourth round match. "I played really solid. I played well. I played very smart. I kept my game plan throughout the whole match," said the German.

"I think after last year's breakthrough here when I reached fourth round, my confidence changed completely. I just started believing in myself I could reach the second weeks of Grand Slams," she added.

Petkovic won a title in Strasbourg, France, earlier this year and made appearances in the semifinals at big events in Miami and Toronto.

Petkovic will next face a late match winner between top seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark and 15th seeded Svetlana Kuznetsnova of Russia.
