BUENOS AIRES, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Argentine Republic will host the 43rd America's Cup from July 1 to 24.
It is the eighth largest country in the world regarding surface and the 32nd regarding population, with about 40 million inhabitants.
Argentina is a representative federal republic and the President is Cristina Fernandez, who was inaugurated in 2007 and in October she will seek to be reelected during the presidential elections.
Argentina has border with Chile and the Andes in the west, with the Atlantic Ocean and Uruguay in the east, with the Atlantic Ocean in the south, and with Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay in the north.
Argentina is divided into 23 provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The country is famous for the tango, a tradition dance, and the barbeque. It also has a great soccer tradition, by winning the World Cups of Argentina 1978 and Mexico 1986, and getting the second place in the World Cups of Uruguay 1930 and Italy 1990.
Through the years, Argentina has had great soccer players such as Alfredo di Stefano, Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.
Argentina is also the country which has won the America's Cup 14 times in total, the same as Uruguay.
