KIEV, April 4 (Xinhua) -- The city of Yalta in the southern Ukraine will host the final stage of International Cliff Diving Championship on September, the Crimea Information Agency reported Monday with a reference to the Crimean official.
Alexander Liev, the Deputy Minister of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea told journalists that the participants will jump off the cliff on which the palace "Swallow's Nest" is situated. The castle is located on top of a 40 - meter high Aurora Rock facing the Black Sea.
The audience will be able to watch the competitions from the water. Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea arranges boats to transport tourists into the sea.
Event organizers expect that over thousand tourists will come to see the championship.The event will be screened live on the Ukrainian and European TV Channels.
The International Cliff Diving Championship kicked off in Chili on March 12. It includes 7 stages in different countries. Greece, France, Italy, USA and Mexico are among them. The final leg will be held in Yalta on September 4.
Cliff diving is a spectator sport that includes jumping into the water while taking difficult acrobatic stunts. International competitions in it are held in different countries since 1996.
