COLOMBO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka faced relegation to Group III of the Asia/Oceania Zone in Davis Cup Tennis as they lost the doubles to Hong Kong in the match played here Saturday.

Sri Lankan pair of Harshana Godamanna and Rajeev Rajapaksa lost to Hiu Tungyu and Martin Sayer by 6-4, 6-4 and 6-0.

"Our pair just did not click today. They clearly had an off day, " Sri Lankan Manager Angelo Patrick said.

Hong Kong now has two wins out of three.

"If we don't win tomorrow we will be relegated," Patrick added.

Sunday's games will be the reverse singles.

Both Sri Lanka and Hong Kong need to win to retain their positions in group II.

In the previous rounds held early this year Sri Lanka lost to New Zealand while Hong Kong lost to Pakistan.

Under the Davis Cup rules the losing teams in the first round must meet each other in a bid to retain their group position in order to prevent relegation.
