HONG KONG, July 2 (Xinhua) -- The 2nd Asian University Table Tennis Championships (AUTTC) will be held in Hong Kong Polytechnic University from July 3 to 6, the organizers said here on Friday.

Over 100 college students from 11 countries and regions including China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Jordan, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates and the hosts Hong Kong, China will strive in the seven events of the tournament.

"In the era of globalization, it is necessary for youth to learn to be adaptable and tolerate," said Kenny Chow, Council Chairman of the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China. "In the competition, they can know how to communicate and cooperate with others, and the competition is also feasible to facilitate cultural exchange."

Hong Kong's team leader Professor Chung Pak-kwong from the Hong Kong Baptist University agreed with Chow's opinion and encouraged his players to enjoy the competition.

The first edition of AUTTC was held in Ulan Bator, Mongolia in April, 2008, where table tennis powerhouse China wrapped three gold medals out of seven in women's team, singles and doubles events.
