Guangdong defends CBA title

BEIJING, April 26 --  Guangdong Southern Tigers defended their Chinese Basketball Association title yesterday, beating the Xinjiang Snow Leopards 103-94 at home to win the final series 4-1.

It was close at the start as Guangdong went into the break 49-45. Led by captain Zhu Fangyu and center Wang Zheng, the defending champions went 32-15 in the third quarter. Though the visitors cut the gap to nine in the fourth, Guangdong closed it out, much to the delight of the home fans. Zhu scored a team-high 29 points, with Wang adding 14. It's Guangdong's sixth crown in seven years. Bayi Rockets holds the record of eight CBA championships.
