BARCELONA, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Following is the factfile of former IOC chief Juan Antonio Samaranch, who died at 89 here on Wednesday:
1920: Born into a wealthy family in Barcelona.
1980-2001: Served as the 7th President of the International Olympic Committee from 1980 to 2001.
2001: Did not apply for the presidency again and was succeeded by Jacques Rogge of Belgium. He then became Honorary President for Life of the IOC.
April 21: Died at a hospital in Barcelona.
