Beckham leaves Finland after successful Achilles tendon surgery

"The operation was a success and I'd like to thank Dr. Orava and all the medical staff who looked after me during my time in Finland," wrote Beckham in his official website on Tuesday. Orava also praised Beckham as a peaceful and kind man who never complained.

Besides that, Beckham also said that he was willing to travel back to Finland someday when he has recovered.

Beckham's Achilles' tendon surgery successful

HELSINKI, March 15 (Xinhua) -- David Beckham's Achilles' tendon surgery was completed successfully on Monday evening and everything went well, his surgeon told Finnish media.

According to the report, the operation lasted 50 minutes and finished at around 7 pm local time. The operation went smoothly, said Finnish orthopaedist Sakari Orava, who conducted the operation at Mehilainen clinic in Turku, southwestern Finland.  Full story

Beckham's World Cup dream seems over with Achilles' tendon tear

ROME, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Former England captain David Beckham's World Cup dream seemed battered on Sunday when he tore left Achilles' tendon in AC Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo in the Italian top-flight soccer league.

The injury occurred when Beckham was by himself with the ball at his feet. He shifted his weight and immediately realized there was a problem, reaching his hand down to his left heel.  Full story
