May CPI growth hits 34-month high, PPI up 6.8 pct China's CPI up 5.5% in May

BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The consumer price index (CPI), the main gauge of inflation, rose 5.5 percent year-on-year in May, the highest rate in 34 months, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Tuesday.

CPI rose 5.2 percent year-on-year in the first five months of the year, NBS spokesman Sheng Laiyun said. Full story

May industrial value-added output growth slows to 7-month low China's CPI up 5.5% in May

BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- China's industrial value-added output growth slowed to 13.3 percent year-on-year in May this year, touching the lowest level since last November, according to data by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Tuesday.

The better-than-expected year-on-year industrial value-added output growth in May was 0.1 percentage point lower than that in April, according to NBS. The market expected the growth for May to be 13.2 percent year-on-year. Full story

Retail sales of consumer goods up 16.9 pct in May China's CPI up 5.5% in May

BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Consumer spending grew steadily in May with retail sales of consumer goods up 16.9 percent year-on-year, authorities announced Tuesday.

The reading was 0.2 percentage points lower than April's, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Full story

Fixed asset investment up 25.8 pct in first five months China's CPI up 5.5% in May

BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Fixed asset investment rose to 9.03 trillion yuan (1.39 trillion U.S. dollars) in the first five months, up 25.8 percent from the same period last year, China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced on Tuesday.

The growth rate was 0.4 percentage point higher than that during the first four months. Full story
