BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Google's CEO Eric Schmidt showed a new service on Tuesday at the IFA Berlin fair about future Internet TV on the PC, just a week after Steve Jobs unveiled an Apple TV product, according to Reuters on Wednesday.

Schmidt displayed a new service yesterday set to bring Google TV programs into living rooms this autumn. This service would allow full access to the web via TV.

Apple's TV device is a compact box which could hook onto TVs and allows viewers to watch online TV shows and movies that they have just rented or downloaded from iTunes, YouTube and also Flickr.

Google TV will combine its smartphone with the Android platform, which allows open access to all Internet content, while Apple TV may stick to its iPhone and iPad devices with iTunes Ping introducing social networking features.

The two Internet giants have increasingly challenged each other in consumer electronics and software programs of all stripes.
