JOHANNESBURG, July 31 (Xinhua) -- In a South African television live show, a young black South African leads a group of thousand others walking in a desert in the country's Northwest province.

In his right hand is a huge placard reading: "Our campaign: The end of global warming, the start of global cooling."

This is one of South Africa's major campaigns against global warning and which is aimed at saving the environment from all sorts of pollution.

This is a typical example of how everybody in South Africa has seen the importance of fighting global warming and therefore the necessity to create an awareness to look after the environment.

Although there is still a raging international debate on this crucial subject as to whether there is real global warming and its causes, it is amazing how Africa, deemed the most uncivilized continent, has grasped the concept of environmental conservation.

Similar to the highly sensitive and controversial debate on what causes HIV/AIDS, world scientists and environmentalists are locked in a debate as to whether there is such a thing as global warming or not.

At all international fora, South Africa has adopted a resolution that global warming is there, and people should look after, and conserve their environment for future generations.
