Yunnan Province was listed as one of the country's AIDS comprehensive prevention and treatment demonstration areas. The province registered more than 83,900 HIV carriers and AIDS patients as of the end of last year, the most of Chinese provinces or regions. The provincial government carried out positive measurements to tackle the problem of AIDS. The Yunnan Center for AIDS Prevention, Care and Research not only improved its facility to provide patients with better AIDS consultation, prevention, testing and treatment services, but also accumulated and exchanged experience in international anti-AIDS undertakings. Currently, the rise of the AIDS epidemic situation is under control in Yunnan and the HIV-affected death rate has fallen from 22.9 percent to 4.7 percent. (Xinhua/Lin Yiguang)
