JAKARTA, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Asian market holds big potentials in mobile technology products as the region has grown to be the number one in demand for advanced mobile value added service, data and information, an official told Xinhua in an interview on Thursday.
"There are so many potentials around mobile market, not just in Indonesia but also in the Philippines and other markets in Asia," said Elodie Journet, the ASEAN Team Leader of Informatics and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Australian Trade Commission.
She said that Australia and Indonesia could work together, not just products that are not only applicable in both countries but also in other countries in Asia.
She said that it is important to find partners to work with, not depending on market or culture.
Journet also said that Indonesia's big potential is due to high penetration rate of mobile device.
"Demand for more advanced capacity in mobile products has been growing in Indonesia," she said, adding that the country has 160 million of mobile gadget users.
Previously, Patrick Kearins, the Trade Commissioner for Indonesia in the Australian Trade Commission, said that Indonesia hold a huge market for technology products.
"In Indonesia, we often see one person who has two or three cellular phones, meaning that the country is a huge market for technology products," Kearins said.
That is why, Journet said, Australia will offer partnership to Indonesia in developing mobile content and solutions.
For example, she said that she spoke to officials from the Indonesian National Education Ministry in which her institution will try to help create more functions of information and education.
"They can be used as medium to educate and do more (things)," she said.
Australia held the first mobile content and solutions showcase in Indonesia on April 22-23.
The showcase was aimed to promote Australia's unique strengths in mobile technology and innovation by introducing its leading mobile content and solution providers to Indonesia s telecommunication and mobile industry.
This event showcased leading Australian mobile technology companies in the areas of content development, emergency warning system, mobile infrastructure and infotainment services, security and authentication solution, secured mobile online services and mobile learning technology.
