KATHMANDU, April 7 (Xinhua) -- World Health Day (WHD) 2010 is being marked in Nepal on Wednesday with the slogan "1000 cities - 1000 lives" by organization various programs on urbanization and health.
The Ministry of Health is organizing various awareness raising programs and interactions in coordination with World Health Organization (WHO) and other health related organizations.
Health related non-governmental organizations are also organizing such programs independently.
WHO chose to focus this year's WHD celebrations on urbanization and health after concluding rampant urbanization, particularly in developing countries, is likely to become a major threat to public health in the coming years.
World Health Day is being observed every year on April 7 since 1948 at the call of WHO.
