DAMASCUS, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Syrian Health Ministry on Wednesday announced two new death cases of A/H1N1 flu.
Hala al-Khayer, head of the contagious and chronic disease department of the ministry, confirmed the death, saying that "the number of deaths due to A/H1N1 flu has increased to 152 in Syria."
Al-Khayer told Xinhua by telephone that most of the Syrian provinces, such as Damascus and the northern governorate Aleppo, have recorded A/H1N1 flu cases due to their dense population.
Syria has requested three international pharmaceutic companies to produce vaccines to counter the disease, he said.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health announced 150 death cases and overall 452 cases of A/H1N1 flu.
