BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The 49-year old U.S. TV star, talk show host Rosie O’Donnell officially confirmed engagement to her girlfriend Michelle Rounds, media reported Tuesday.
O’Donnell launched The Rosie Show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network in October and broke the happy news on her show Friday, saying they will tie the knot over Christmas.
“There's something about marrying someone in a commitment with all your friends and family around you,” she said.
Michelle Rounds is a corporate headhunter for an IT company in New York.
The two met earlier this year at a Starbucks. In October, O'Donnell joked that her “gaydar was way off” because she thought Rounds was heterosexual and just 28 years old, when really she is a gay woman and 40.
"It's fun and very exciting," O'Donnell recently said about the relationship. "I did not expect it."
But Rounds’ parents were shock at the news, claiming they had no idea their daughter was a lesbian.
Her father Roger called the relationship "painful" and "shocking."
O'Donnell married her previous partner Kelli Carpenter in San Francisco in 2004, but they split in 2007. They are the parents of three adopted children, and Carpenter gave birth to a fourth child through artificial insemination in 2002.
