LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Controversial U.S. rapper Kanye West walked away from the 54th annual Grammy Awards nomination ceremony at the Nokia Theater here Wednesday evening with seven nominations.

West was ahead of other singers including Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars.

The popular rapper's most important nomination was for Song of the Year "All of the Lights," which also featured Rihanna, Kid Cudi and Fergie. "Watch the Throne," his collaboration with Jay-Z, also earned a nod for Best Rap Album.

Other songs, including "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele, "The Cave" by Mumford & Sons, "Grenade" by Bruno Mars and "Holocene" by Bon Iver were also nominated in that category.

Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars each garnered six nominations, close behind West.

Adele, a British singer, was nominated for Album of the Year for "21." Her song "Rolling in the Deep" got nominated for the category Song of the Year.

"Doo-Wops & Hooligans," from Bruno Mars, was also nominated for Album of the Year.

A posthumous honor went to Amy Winehouse, who got nominated for her pop duo/group performance "Body and Soul," her duet with Tony Bennett.

Taylor Swift's "Mean" garnered a nomination for Best Country Solo Performance.

In a bid to streamline the awards show, the Recording Academy slashed the number of Grammy categories from last year's 109 to this year's 78.

The 54th annual Grammy Awards ceremony will be held Feb. 12 at Staples Center, Los Angeles.
