BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Lindsay Lohan's hopes of leaving jail this week were dashed as sheriff orders her to stay there until Aug. 1, according to media reports Tuesday.
"She won't be released this week," said Steve Whitmore, a Sheriff's Department spokesman.
"Nothing has changed," Whitmore said. "When she was incarcerated I said a couple of weeks and it hasn't been a couple of weeks. That turns out to be the first part of next week. It could be Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, something like that."
Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, who had been doing her best to get the troubled actress out of jail this week, visited Lohan at the weekend and denied Internet rumors that Lohan has been crying hysterically and cutting herself to get attention.
The Hollywood actress was sentenced to 90 days for violating her probation but caught a big break when officials said she would serve only 13 or 14 days due to overcrowding.
She is serving her time alone in a cell.
