    1. Brief introduction:

Beijing Tongren Hospital, affiliated to Capital Medical University, is a comprehensive Level-3-Grade-A hospital, which specializes in ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and cardiovascular diseases. It was founded in 1886 or the 12th year during Emperor Guangxu's reign of the Qing Dynasty. The hospital has 1,600 beds and 37 clinical departments with 2,064 staff. It receives 3,000 to 5,000 outpatients per day, and 15,000 inpatients per year.

The hospital has several subordinate institutes including Beijing Ophthalmology Research Center (blindness-prevention partner of WTO), Beijing ENT Research Center, Beijing Tongren Eye Bank (member of the International Association of Eye Bank).
