China remains a developing country despite fast GDP growth: FM

BEIJING, Feb.15 (Xinhua) -- China remains a developing country despite rapid GDP growth, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said Tuesday.

"China's GDP growth has remained relatively fast in recent years with expanding aggregate economic volume and fruitful development. However, it must be noted that China's economy still has problems," he said. Full story

Kazakh president to visit China in February: FM spokesman

BEIJING, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev will visit China from Feb. 21 to 23 to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries, China's Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday.

Nazarbayev is visiting at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao, ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular press briefing. Full story

China stands for broad negotiation on Security Council reform, says FM

BEIJING, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- China on Tuesday reaffirmed its stance on UN Security Council reform and called on all member countries to seek resolutions through broad and democratic negotiations.

"Member countries should consider all sides' interests and concerns and seek a package of resolutions through broad and democratic negotiations, so as to reach the broadest possible consensus," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu at a regular press briefing. Full story

China supports efforts to solve Cambodia-Thailand conflict

BEIJING, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- China on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to working with the international community to tackle the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand.

"We welcome and support mediation efforts by the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN)to ease Cambodia-Thailand tensions and would like to work with ASEAN and the international community to play a constructive role in resolving the conflict," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular briefing on Tuesday.
