BEIJING, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Etuoke banner in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has developed into a major spirulina supply base of China with its annual production hitting 750 tonnes, or 25 percent of the country's total.
The Qagan Nur Lake in Etuoke banner of China, the Lake Chad of Africa and the Lake Texcoco of Mexico are listed as the three natural salt lakes for growing spirulina species. As the spirulina species grown in the Qagan Nur Lake are rich in DHA, or brain gold, the lake is considered the best spirulina lake among the three.
The planned Etuoke spirulina industrial park covers a total area of 826.6 hectares. The first phase project, covering 200 hectares, has attracted 19 enterprises, and some of which have gone into operation.
