BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Finnish counterpart Tarja Halonen agreed Saturday to boost cooperation, as the two nations celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
During a 40-minute meeting with Halonen at the Great Hall of the People, Hu hailed the development of Sino-Finnish ties over the last six decades.
The north European state recognized the People's Republic of China in 1950, one of the first Western countries to do so.
In recent years, the two countries have witnessed a strong momentum in bilateral relations, with frequent exchanges and high-level visits which have enhanced mutual trust and cooperation in various fields, Hu said.
Hu highlighted bilateral trade and investment, adding that he expected increased understanding, friendship and cooperation.
