BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- In his government work report to the National People's Congress (NPC) on Friday, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said China would focus on "transformation of economic growth pattern and adjustment of economic structure" in its economic policies in 2010.

BEIJING, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- As China celebrates the arrival of the new lunar year, the Year of the Tiger, the world hopes China's economy will roar again in 2010, after it helped pull the global economy out of recession in 2009, the Year of the Ox.

World Bank forecast: China's economy to grow 9.5% in 2010

BEIJING, March 17 (Xinhua) -- China's economy would expand 9.5 percent this year, fuelled by a transformed growth model featuring less government-led investment, a recovery in exports and solid domestic consumption, the World Bank (WB) said in a report released Wednesday.

The projection, made in the latest China Quarterly Update, is higher than the WB's previous forecast of 8.7 percent last November and the 8 percent target set in the 2010 government work report delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao on March 5.  Full story

WB official commends China's experience in developing high-speed railway

DAR ES SALAAM, March 11 (Xinhua) -- "China has very good experience in developing high-speed railway, which can be learned by the East African countries," a senior World Bank official said here on Thursday.

John Murray McIntire, World Bank Country Director for Tanzania, Uganda, and Burundi, made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Xinhua at the sidelines of a regional conference on East African railways system with the theme of "Revitalizing the Railways for Enhanced Regional Integration and Economic Growth".  Full story
