BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Radio isn't dead.
A report lately released by Nielsen, a U.S. market research firm, said that the second quarter of 2015 saw the highest number of people tuning into radio ever in the country.
One would assume that with so many options for accessing music, radio would be having a hard time keeping up, but the report indicated that it's doing fine.
As of earlier this year, 245 million people listened to the radio at least once a week in the U.S. That's an incredible 91 percent of the American population who are twelve or older, which is music to advertiser's ears, according to the report.
An article published by Forbes said, while many radio stations have shuttered or slimmed down their operations recently, it is clear that the industry is still strong, and that there is room for stations to thrive.
Radio prevails because it's readily available, as most Americans listen to radio in their cars on their way to and from work. Compared to internet streaming service, radio is a format that is easier to access and understand.
Infinite choice provided by streaming service is nice, but judging by the fact that there are still hundreds of millions of people listening to the radio on a weekly basis, it clearly isn't what the majority of people are looking for, the report said.
