LAS VEGAS, the United States, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- The 2015 International CES opened Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada, with more than 3,500 exhibitors displaying their latest consumer electronic products, technologies and services.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the organizer of the show, said in a press release that the 2015 CES will feature the largest ever showcase of products, services and technologies that make up the "Internet of Things (IoT)," with more than 900 exhibitors planning to share innovations that harness the power of the network to connect everyday devices.

"The 'Internet of Things' is the hottest topic in tech right now," said Karen Chupka, senior vice president of International CES and corporate business strategy of CEA. "It's all about the opportunity to connect everyday items like cars, home security systems and kitchen appliances to networked devices like PCs and smartphones for greater control and management of our everyday lives. We're excited that the 2015 CES will bring together all of the companies and products that are making this a reality."

The Sensors Marketplace in the show, for instance, will highlight one of the key technologies that is enabling the IoT, while the Smart Home Marketplace will showcase a smarter, more efficient home accelerated by smartphones and tablets interacting with a myriad of connected objects and devices, from basic security systems to connected lighting systems, according to the organizer.

Other innovations such as 4K TVs, curved screens, and smart home solutions, among other things, will also be displayed at the International CES, now an annual event.

This year's CES will be closed Friday. The International CES, which has grown into the world's largest consumer electronics expo, attracted more than 150,000 visitors from all over the world last year.
