NEW YORK, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- A patient who has recently traveled to one of West African nations was hospitalized in New York City Tuesday and put into quarantine amid fears of Ebola.
The patient was a 58-year-old doctor who had recently returned from Liberia and complained of gastrointestinal problems, local media reported.
Witnesses said several police officers, firefighters, two ambulances, and Hazmat crews were on the scene working to get the patient out of an apartment in upper Manhattan.
The New York City Health Department said the patient would be tested for Ebola.
The patient was also being evaluated for other causes of illness and Ebola test results are expected to be released late Tuesday, it added.
Back in October, Dr. Craig Spencer, who returned from West Africa, became the New York City's first Ebola patient, and made the city unusually panicky. He has since recovered after 19 days of treatment.
