SINGAPORE, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- A total of 4.49 million passengers passed through Singapore's Changi Airport in October, up 1.9 percent year on year, according to the statistics released by the Changi Airport Group (CAG) on Tuesday.
Traffic to and from South Asia was particularly strong, up 14 percent year on year. Passenger traffic to India increased 17 percent. Passenger traffic to Thailand rose by 1 percent after 11 months of decline. Passenger movements between Singapore and China rose 5 percent.
In the first 10 months of the year, 44.58 million passenger movements were recorded at Changi Airport, up 1 percent year on year. Cargo shipments grew by 0.5 percent to 1.53 million tons, while aircraft movements were stable at 283,650.
Flight movements in October fell 3.7 percent to 28,380, while airfreight movements rose 2.1 percent, with 159,700 tons of cargo handled during the month.
