ISLAMABAD, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left for Nepal on Tuesday to represent the country at the two-day summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), officials said.
On the sidelines of the Nov. 25-26 event, the Pakistani prime minister will meet leaders from SAARC member countries to discuss issues of bilateral and regional interest, the Foreign Ministry statement said.
SAARC groups Afghanistan Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The theme of the Summit is "Deeper Integration for Peace and Prosperity".
The foreign ministers of the member countries are meeting in Kathmandu to finalize agenda for the summit. Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz represents Pakistan at the ministerial meeting.
Although Pakistan and India have not officially confirmed meeting between Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the SAARC summit, official sources do not rule out any such interaction.
