ANKARA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- A suspect involved in the murder of nine Afghan migrants in northwest Turkey was arrested on Sunday, private Dogan News Agency reported on Monday.
In April, a local villager discovered human bones of the nine Afghans, including five children, in a thicket near Budakdoganca village in the northwestern province of Edirne, close to Turkey's border with Bulgaria.
Investigation has shown that they had died of shotgun wounds, disproving initial suspicions that they had died as a result of exposure to cold weather while attempting to illegally cross the border. Four suspects were targeted then during the investigation.
Earlier on Friday the police conducted a simultaneous operation in the provinces of Edirne, Kirklareli and Adana, taking four suspects into custody, but only one was arrested on charge of killing and the rest three were released after giving their testimonies by the court pending a trial, reports said, adding that the police is searching for a fifth suspect.
