Afghan deadly suicide bombing draws wide condemnations

KABUL, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- The bloody suicide bombing in Afghan eastern Paktika province on Sunday which had left over 100 people dead and injured has drawn wide condemnations at home and abroad.

In the deadly attack which happened at 04:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, a man strapped with explosive device in his body blew himself up among crowd of onlookers of a volleyball tournament in Yahyakhil district, leaving at least 50 dead and 60 injured, according to Paktika's provincial government spokesman Mukhlis Afghan.

Although no group has claimed responsibility, the deadly suicide bombing occurred just hours after endorsing the controversial security pact -- Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between Kabul and Washington by Lower House of Afghan parliament to allow limited number of U.S. troops to remain in Afghanistan after 2014 pullout of NATO-led forces from the country.

The deadly suicide bombing has drawn wide condemnations at home and abroad. Canada's Foreign Minister John Baird has strongly denounced the coward attack and expressed sympathy to the families of the victims.

"Canada condemns in the strongest terms the suicide attack that took place at a volleyball match in eastern Afghanistan, reportedly killing dozens of people and injuring scores more," a statement released here by Canadian embassy said.

"Canada stands by the Government of Afghanistan as it strengthens its efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms in order to bring peace and prosperity to all Afghans," the statement added.

Pakistan has also condemned the coward terror attack and expressed its sympathy with the families of the victims and the government of Afghanistan.

Pakistani foreign ministry, according to local media reports, in a statement strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Paktika province, saying Pakistan shares the grief with the government and people of Afghanistan.

Pakistani Embassy to Afghanistan has also condemned the deadly suicide bombing, according to local media report.

In Afghanistan, people from all walks of life have condemned the bloody suicide bombing against civilians in the volleyball match in its strongest term.
