SINGAPORE, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Three limited-edition coin sets- the 2015 Year of the Goat Almanac Coins, 2015 Uncirculated Coin Set and Singapore Second Almanac Coin Series Puzzle Coin Set will be launched in January for the upcoming Year of the Goat, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced on Thursday.
The 2015 Year of the Goat Coins are part of the third Chinese Almanac coin series. The coin features the image of a goat, integrated with ancient Chinese seal characters which means " Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches," MAS explained.
The design incorporates a peony which is a symbol of blessing and festive cheer, it added.
The coins will be available in nine versions, including a 1 kg coin made of 999 fine silver introduced in the 2012 Year of the Dragon coin collection and a Silver Piedfort Proof Coin featuring the image of the goat in color. Selected uncirculated coin sets will include a unique 8-sided floral-shaped ingot featuring three goats in a pasture.
MAS will also issue a puzzle coin set featuring the designs of past Chinese Almanac series. The coin set comprises a center coin surrounded by 12 coins using a 3-way interlocking concept, with each depicting an animal from the second Chinese Almanac series. The center coin features the national flower of Singapore, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, plated in gold to commemorate Singapore's golden jubilee in 2015.
These coins will be issued on Jan. 8, 2015.
