CAIRO, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- A bomb blast wounded three civilians early Saturday in the Egyptian capital Cairo, the state-run MENA news agency reported.
The bomb, hidden in a rubbish bin, went off at around 4:30 a.m., injuring three street cleaners, the report quoted the Egyptian Interior Ministry as saying.
It is still unknown who was responsible for placing the bomb, but extremists have claimed responsibility for previous attacks in Cairo.
Egyptian authorities have been facing a rising wave of terrorism since the overthrow of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi by the military in July 2013 and the following crackdown on his supporters that left about 1,000 dead and thousands more arrested.
Anti-government attacks extended from the Sinai Peninsula to reach the capital Cairo and other provinces across the country. Sinai-based, al-Qaida-inspired Ansar Beit al-Maqdis and its fellow Ajnad Misr group claimed responsibility for most of the attacks.
