LA PAZ, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Bolivian Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera on Sunday urged the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) to sanction the "cyber-dirty war" that broke the electoral silence period and hacked Twitter accounts of several media.

Garcia Linera said the Twitter accounts were hacked and sent messages announcing the alleged death of President Evo Morales.

"These are cyber-electoral crimes and TSE is the competent authority to sanction them," said Garcia Linera in a press conference held in La Paz.

The Bolivian vice president said the situation was something " unheard" and serious. This is "political sabotage that should be investigated and sanctioned," he said.

Several media spread the false information in their websites, including local television channels such as private-owned Red Uno and state-owned Bolivia TV.

Despite this, Garcia Linera said Sunday will be a "great day" for Bolivians to consciously vote and define the future of Bolivia.

The vice president highlighted that 272,058 Bolivians who live in 33 countries voted in the presidential election, out of some 6. 246 million people registered to elect president for the 2015-2020 period.

Meanwhile, the President of Bolivia and official candidate Evo Morales voted on Sunday morning in Cochabamba where he called the people to turn out and show popular unity.

"Bolivia is a democratic country, that is why the wide participation of the people, in all the Bolivian regions as well as the people living abroad, is very important," said Morales after voting, adding he was "convinced that a large democratic participation will show the unity of the nation."

Morales, who is seeking to be reelected, will travel on Sunday afternoon to La Paz to wait for the official results in Quemado Palace, the seat of the Bolivian government.

Meanwhile, Samuel Doria Medina, the opposition candidate from Unity Democrat Coalition (UD), voted on Sunday morning in La Paz and criticized the work of the TSE.

Denis Racicot, the representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Bolivia, also called on the Bolivians and political parties to participate fully and maintain the respectful and democratic environment in the presidential elections on Sunday.

According to local press, Racicot said in La Paz that the UN observers have the mission to follow the electoral process and report irregularities.

He urged Bolivians to "exercise their right to vote with freedom and independence."

Observers from the Organization of American States (OAS), the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino) and other organizations are deployed in different parts of the country to monitor the Bolivian presidential election.
