SANAA, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni Prime Minister Mohammed Basindawa on Wednesday presented his resignation to President Abd- Rabbu Mansour Hadi, a government official told Xinhua.
"Basindawa submitted his resignation to President Hadi today ( Wednesday) in a meeting with the President," the official said on condition of anonymity.
He said that Hadi accepted Basindawa's resignation and will proceed to issue a presidential decree to name a new prime minister within hours in line with a compromised initiative that Hadi issued on Tuesday to resolve weeks-long standoff with Shiite Houthi rebels.
Yemeni president to replace government amid protests
SANAA, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi will replace the government and called for a national unity administration, in a move to calm down the recent spate of protests, the official Saba news agency reported Tuesday.
Hadi will "name a new prime minister within a week" and assign him to form a national unity government, Saba reported, adding that the president is authorized to appoint ministers of defence, interior, foreign and finance in the new cabinet. Full Story
Yemen president dismisses government amid protests
SANAA, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi on Tuesday dismissed the government and called for a national unity administration, in a move to calm down the recent spate of protests, local TV reported.
