OSLO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Norway tanks will take part in a NATO exercise to be held in Latvia near the border with Russia, the Norwegian newspaper VG reported on Friday.
In addition, 190 Norwegian soldiers will participate in the exercise.
"This is not a contribution to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia," Norwegian Defense Minister Ine Eriksen Soereide was quoted as saying.
The exercise is scheduled to last for almost two months and ends in late November.
Last June, 10 NATO member countries staged the Saber Strike ground forces exercise in the the Baltic countries amid heightened tensions between Ukraine and Russia.
The war game, which involved nearly 5,000 troops, was reportedly seen by Russia as a NATO military build-up.
