GENEVA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Seven people got injured in a collision between two light aircraft in northeastern Switzerland on Sunday afternoon, said the cantonal police.
The two planes, having respectively departed from Zurich Airport and an airfield at Lommis, a municipality in Thurgau canton on the north of St. Gallen canton, collided into each other in the airspace over Wil, a town in St. Gallen canton and then both made emergency landings, the cantonal police said in a statement.
According to the police, one plane landed in a nearby field, causing the pilot and three passengers seriously injured.
The other aircraft managed to make the landing at an airfield of Sitterdorf, injuring the pilot and two passengers, and the severity of their injuries is not known at present, according to the police.
The police said that rescuers have been deployed to the scene.
The reason for the incident was not immediately known, and the investigation is underway.
