BERLIN, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- More than 20 people were injured as a passenger train collided with a freight train on Friday in the southern German city of Mannheim, N-TV and Bild newspaper reported.
According to local police, the accident happened at around 9:00 p.m. local time (1900 GMT). A freight train ran into a passenger train at the central railway station in Mannheim and brought the latter to derailment.
Several carriages of the passenger train, which took around 110 passengers, came off the track. The first two cars turned over.
According to Bild newspaper, five passengers were seriously injured, 20 others got slight injuries.
Press reports said the Mannheim central railway station was almost completely blocked after the accident. Psychologists have come to the scene for those passengers who are still in a state of shock.
