BERLIN, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Germany has evacuated its embassy staff in Libya amid security concerns, German television ARD reported on Monday.
The German Foreign Ministry evacuated diplomats from the German Embassy in Tripoli, ARD said, citing a ministry spokesperson.
The embassy is not closed and several local staffers are still working there, the spokesperson added.
Germany followed measures taken by countries including Britain and the United States amid the ongoing violence resulting from clashes between Libyan militias.
The United States closed its embassy in Libya on Saturday and relocated personnel there to neighboring Tunisia. Britain has updated its advice to warn against travel to Libya after clashes over Tripoli international airport erupted.
Germany on Sunday advised all citizens currently in Libya to immediately leave the country.
"The situation is extremely unpredictable and uncertain," the German Foreign Ministry said in a travel warning. "German nationals are at increased risk of kidnapping and attacks," it warned.
