Firing, bomb blast kill 5 security personnel in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Three soldiers and two policemen were killed in separate incidents of firing and bomb blast in southwest and northwest Pakistan on Friday, officials and local media reported.

Superintendent of Police Imran Qureshi said that two policemen were gunned down by unknown militants in the country's southwest Balochistan province.

He said that the cops came under attack when they were performing their duties in New Sariab area of Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan.

The attackers fled the scene following the attack.

In another incident, two soldiers were killed in a landmine blast in Ghulam Khan area of South Waziristan, one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal agencies at Pakistan-Afghanistan border, local Urdu TV channel Geo reported.

In a separate attack in FR Jandola Bazaar in South Waziristan, a paramilitary soldier was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

No group has claimed responsibility for any of the attack yet.

Security personnel cordoned off the area and a probe into the incident is under way.
