GAZA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of the ongoing Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip has climbed to 733, Palestinian medical sources said on Thursday. More than 4,600 others were wounded.
Ashraf al-Qedra, the spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza, said that the death toll was going up every five minutes amid a severe shortage of medical supplies.
The spokesman urged international rights organizations and health organizations for protection of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Tayseer Amro, deputy minister of national economy, told Xinhua that the wheel of Palestinian economy has completely stopped and all economic activities are paralyzed.
More than 3,000 houses, according to Gaza rights groups, have been destroyed or damaged in 17 days of intensive airstrikes and tank shelling.
JERUSALEM, July 23 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry left Israel late Wednesday after a day-long visit in the country in which he tried to broker a ceasefire agreement to end the ongoing fighting between Israel and Hamas.
There have been no official reports regarding a possible breakthrough in the ceasefire efforts as Kerry left Wednesday night and no comments were made by Israeli officials regarding the status of the talks. Full story
GENEVA, July 23 (Xinhua) -- A special session ofUnited NationsHuman Rights Council (HRC) adopted a resolution on Wednesday and decided to launch an inquiry into human rights violations from Israel latest military offensive in the Gaza strip.
