GAZA, July 20 (Xinhua) -- A series of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Sunday evening killed 11 Palestinians, including five children, and wounded 20 others, medics and witnesses said.
A Gaza Health Ministry spokesman said an old woman and an eight- year old child were killed after Israeli war jets struck their house east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis. Another Palestinian man was killed in a separate airstrike. Ten Palestinians were injured in the air raids, three in serious conditions.
Earlier on Sunday, the spokesman said that Israeli air forces targeted an apartment in a populated high-rise in Gaza city, killing eight people, including four children, and injuring ten more. Most of the eight victims were from a same family.
Israel's ongoing large-scale offensive in the Gaza Strip has already killed 450 Palestinians and wounded 3,040 others since it began on July 8, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza. Two thirds of the victims were civilians.
