BERLIN, July 11 (Xinhua) -- A man set himself on fire in front of the Libyan embassy in Berlin on Friday, local police told Xinhua.
Press reports said earlier that the incident took place near the Israeli embassy in Berlin. This information has been corrected.
Local police told Xinhua that the man set himself on fire at about 11:15 a.m. local time (0915 GMT).
Citing a police spokesman, German media Spiegel Online said the man is about 25 years old. He poured flammable liquid on himself and lit himself on fire as embassy guards spoke to him.
Although the fire was put out quickly, the man was seriously injured. He has been treated locally in a helicopter and then flown to a hospital.
Initial findings showed that the man had no political demands and was in a dispute with the Libyan embassy due to care claims for war-wounded soldiers, the spokesman said.
