DAMASCUS, July 6 (Xinhua) -- A total of nine people were killed by radical rebels in Syria's southern province of Daraa, the pro- government Sham FM radio reported on Sunday.
The Nusra Front, an al-Qaida subgroup operating in the war-torn country, killed nine people of the same family after kidnapping them in Daraa province, the report said, without giving any further details.
The Nusra Front currently controls several areas in Daraa, where the country's three-year-old conflict first erupted.
So far, more than 100,000 people were killed, while millions more were forced to flee their homeland.
Recently, clashes between the government troops and the Nusra Front were most seen in the town of Nawa, which connects Daraa with the southern province of Qunaitera near the Golan Heights.
