KABUL, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Several oil tankers caught fire and burned to ashes as three rockets fired by militants slammed into a parking lot in the western part of Kabul Friday night, drivers at the site said.
"It was 11:00 p.m. Friday night when three rockets hit the parking lot in Arghandi area in the outskirt of Kabul city burning several oil tankers," a driver Tawab Khan told Xinhua at the site of the incident.
"Two of my own oil tankers have burned to ashes and I have lost whatever I had in my life," Khan added.
Another dejected driver who declined to be named said his oil tanker was devoured in the fire.
Fire brigade fighters after hours of fighting were able to extinguish the fire at 06:a.m. local time Saturday.
Officials have yet to make comment on the incident.
Meantime, Taliban militants fighting the government to regain power have claimed responsibility for the attack, saying scores of oil tankers were supplying fuel to the NATO-led forces had been turned to ashes in the attack.
