TOKYO, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Japan held a security meeting Monday under the National Security Council with a focus on addressing Sunday's missile launches by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DRPK).

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his ministers attended the meeting to discuss the missiles fired by the DPRK before a Japan- DPRK meeting on Tuesday in Beijing on bilateral abduction issue.

Japan's Defense Ministry said Sunday that the missiles are believed to have flown about 500 km and the prime minister also called on relevant ministries and agencies to gather information in cooperation with the United States and South Korea.

Japan's top government spokesman Yoshihide Suga told a press conference Monday that Tuesday's meeting with the DPRK will be held on schedule and Japan will raise the missile issue with its counterpart.
