ISLAMABAD, June 29 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed and five others injured on Sunday in a firing at a passenger van in northwest Pakistan, local media reported.
According to the reports, the incident took place when some unknown gunmen opened indiscriminate fire at the passenger vehicle in Maroi area of Hangu, a district in the country's northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the hospital, where all the injured were reportedly in stable condition.
The unidentified attackers managed to flee from the site after the attack.
The passenger van was on its way from Hangu city to the tribal region of Orakzai Agency when it came under attack.
Motive behind the attack was not known yet, however, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
