ISLAMABAD, June 26 (Xinhua) -- At least two pilots were killed late Wednesday night when a helicopter of the Pakistan army crashed in central Pakistan's Multan district, local media and officials said early Thursday.
The spokesman of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the mouthpiece of the Pakistan army, said the incident took place when a trainer helicopter of the Pakistan army crashed in the premises of the airport in Multan, a district in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province.
The helicopter was on its training mission when it crashed near the runway of the airport and both pilots on board, Major Yasir and Captain Murtaza, were killed in the crash, the ISPR official said.
The bodies of the deceased pilots were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Multan.
The official attributed crash to some technical fault.
No loss of life or property occurred on the ground.
