KIEV, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk discussed his country's crisis with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier here Tuesday, the government's press service said.
The meeting focused on the tensions in eastern Ukraine, the country's economic slowdown and its energy security, a government media statement said.
During the talks, Yatsenyuk said he appreciated the European Council's support for Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's peace plan aimed at ending the violence and encouraging reforms.
He also spoke highly of Steinmeier's role in dealing with the Ukraine crisis, the statement said.
The prime minister reiterated his government's commitment to making every effort to de-escalate the tensions in Lugansk and Donetsk regions and solving the prolonged crisis.
Steinmeier arrived here Monday for talks on the crisis.
