LIMA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Ollanta Humala on Monday appointed three new ministers in a surprise cabinet shake-up.
Gonzalo Gutierrez, former Peruvian ambassador to China, was sworn in as foreign minister.
Daniel Urresti, a former army general in charge of a crackdown on illegal mining, became interior minister and Jose Gallardo Ku, an economist on the board of the central bank, served as new transportation and communications minister.
Humala reshuffled the cabinet after former Interior Minister Walter Alban resigned Monday morning for personal reasons.
Presidents in Peru, who can not serve two consecutive terms, traditionally make cabinet changes in July and December.
