KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Nine people are still missing after a boat carrying 27 Indonesians sank in Sepang waters in Malaysia early Thursday, according to local media report.

Another boat with 97 Indonesians onboard sank in Kuala Langat waters in this Southeast Asian country just a day before on Wednesday.

Malaysian English Language newspaper The Star quoted Klang Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director (operations) Left Commander Mohd Hambali Yaakub as saying that 18 people had been rescued while nine were still missing.

"Initial investigations revealed that the boat, bound for Tanjung Balai, sank at about 3 a.m.," he said, adding that it was believed that the boat came from Pantai Morib.
